Unaka District - Venturing
Venturing. Venturing is for those who want to go beyond the conventional . . . to higher levels of challenge . . . to a Scouting program of their own that will demand more of them . . . and give them more in return. Venturing presents high-adventure activities or sports for older Scouts to choose from. The activities pull no punches. The toughest challenges are there to accept – snow camping, orienteering, cycling, survival, and many others. The Venture Patrol is a special patrol for older Scouts interested in more rugged action, such as whitewater canoeing or wilderness backpacking. Venturing – Patrol and Crew. Venture Patrol. Scouts participating within their own troop in Venture activities are part of a Venture Patrol. They can be in this patrol once they reach the age of 13 and First Class rank. Venture Crew. Sometimes a troop will form a separate unit called a Venture Crew that will have an entirely separate unit number. The Venture Crew is co-ed meaning that both boys and girls can join. The age for a Crew is from age 14-21. A male crew member continues with his regular Scouting advancement program, troop activities, and troop leadership responsibilities. Training Key Links:
